The temple was established by Fujiwara no Yorimichi in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Designated as a number of national treasures such as the Phoenix Hall and the wooden Amida Nyorai sitting statue. This temple is also famous as the design of the ten yen coin. The Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage as one of "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto".
